Could A Loft Ladder Solve Your Space Problems?

Wednesday June 9, 2010

The housing market in the UK at the moment is pretty dull. After the recent recession prices have not really done much to improve, although it will probably happen eventually.

But this puts those people who are thinking of moving in something of a bind. Do they move now and risk losing money on their home when they know they could get more for it in a better market? Or do they stay put and try and make the best of what they have?

In many cases the latter situation is the best one to opt for. And the good news is that there is often a good solution to this for those who are willing to opt for it.

The solution lies in going up rather than moving out. If you live in a house you can utilise your loft space by installing a loft ladder and turning it into a usable space instead of just storing junk up there or worse, not using it at all.

You might want to go up and see what kind of space you have first of all, especially if you rarely go up in your loft. For instance is there anything up there at all at the moment, or will you need to sort it out and get rid of some junk that has been up there for a long time?

How you go about this depends on how you are going to transform your loft in the first place. You could turn it into a spare bedroom but you should remember that even with a proper and expensive loft ladder in place, whoever is using the room will need to be agile enough to use it fairly regularly. It should only be for an occasional room though, so it might work fine in this respect.

In addition to this you need to bear in mind that a small loft hatch will only accommodate certain items of furniture through it. Make sure you will be able to get everything up there that you need, before you dedicate yourself to transforming your attic into a different kind of space.

Whatever you use your loft space for there is no doubt that using it well can expand your home in many different ways. With the aid of a good strong loft ladder, you will enjoy the idea of using it more often.
